Concrete forming & placing of land piers & entire concrete bridge deck. Two approaches (one 3 span & one 5 span), and a 5 span main deck, four lanes wide across the North Arm of the Fraser River.
Burnaby Pedestrian Bridge (2009)
A complex pedestrian bridge tied into the Central Valley Greenway. Very poor site soil conditions that required innovative piling and jacking solutions. Challenging erection activities over busy roadway, railways & pathway.
Brilliant Dam Repairs (1997)
Civil repairs to an existing dam structure. Difficult work activities with challanging access solutions and a comprehensive safety program so workers could perform their tasks safely.
Exshaw Cement Silo (1995)
3200 ton Homogenizing concrete silo, in Exshaw, Alberta. 130’ high slip formed silo complete with cast in place roof and hopper slab. The concrete slip was pour completed in nine (9) days.
Lehigh Silo Repairs (2005)
Concrete repairs inside an existing cement silo with rusting reinforcing and spalling concrete. Developed an innovative traveling work platform for removal the deficient rebar and concrete and also provided for placing new rebar, one sided forms and replacement concrete in an efficient and safe manner.
Walter Moberly School Seismic Upgrade (2009)
The seismic upgrade of the existing school included new interior and exterior concrete pilasters, concrete shear walls, wood frame shear walls, steel bracing, soil anchors, steel drag struts, wood joist to beam and joist to foundation connections. The project was performed in three (3) phases to allow the classes to proceed.
TransLink – Smart Card & Faregates (2012)
The Smart Card and Faregate Project was for the integration of the smart card system to all of the skytrain stations. Our work included the set-up of new fare machines, and additions & modifications required for the new Faregate entrance ways for 11 stations.
Cranbrook Recreation Centre (2000)
Concrete forming and placing contract. This was a fast track project done during the winter months in Cranbrook. The work was completed using two (2) crews on ten (10) hour shifts working seven (7) days a week. Combined cast in place concrete structure and precast. Special features included 4500 seat NHL size Ice Rink, Commercial area and Aquatic Centre.
Richmond City Hall Concrete (1999)
A large concrete forming and placing trade contract. Extensive exposed Architectural concrete features involving pigmented concrete and challenging forming solutions. SBW received the VRCA 2000 ‘Trade Contractor of the Year’ Award for our work on this project.
Andy Livingston Park Concrete (1994)
Forming and placing of numerous concrete structures, features, paving, boarders, play grounds, stream & fencing for a park area covering over two square blocks.
Seaspan 69Kv Substation (2014)
Excavation, drainage, forming, rebar and concrete placing for the69kV Substation foundations and containment curbs. Precise placement of anchor bolts and steel embeddments for the equipment and perimeter security fencing
Van. Chess St. Work Yard Concrete (2003)
Concrete forming and placing for all the structures on a new 16-acre City Works Yard site. Including seven Administration & Maintenance structures and numerous covered parking and storage facilities. Varied concrete forming and placing challenges, such as tilt up concrete structures, 30-foot high bin walls and artistic wall castings. The first buildings in Canada to receive LEED™ Gold Certification
Royston Road Underpass (1999)
An unique Island Highway underpass that involved a formed in place concrete arched spine beam. Concrete counter weight blocks at the east/west abutments that rested on pivot points to maintain the concrete arch spine beam in tension.
Mountain View Cemetery Landscaping (2008)
Forming and placing of a variety of concrete features, paving, steps, boarders, ponds & incorporating stone features creating a park like areas to enhance the new columbarium’s added to the cemetery.
